The Middle Ages knew not only knights and squires, but also pirates who made the seas unsafe and whose favorite drink was undoubtedly rum. They were not the only ones, because the fact that the buccaneers came into possession of the exquisite drink at all was due to the great demand all over the world, which could only be satisfied by water and which has not diminished to this day. Today, however, there is an increasing trend towards using brandy as an ingredient in other delicacies.
The obligatory shot of rum is an integral part of many baked goods. However, people in the Middle Ages also knew that the various types of grain were not just for eating, as one of the great popular drinks of the time was beer.
