This artfully forged three-legged pot is both a practical and decorative piece of cookware for your historical medieval camp kitchen or outdoor kitchen. With its rustic design and high-quality workmanship, it fits perfectly into any medieval setting.
The grapen, also known as a grape or grappen, is a type of vessel that originated in the 12th century and was widely used until the 18th century.
It was made of clay, bronze or later cast iron and was used for cooking over an open fire.
Thanks to its three legs, the three-foot pot could be placed directly in the embers, with its relatively high mass distributing the heat evenly and thus ensuring gentle cooking. The shape and function of today's Dutch Oven is based on the traditional three-legged pot, but differs from the historical original primarily in its lid.
This high-quality replica is hand-forged from robust steel. The three artfully twisted legs are firmly riveted to the bulbous pot, ensuring that it stands securely in the embers of the fire. The approx. 36 cm long handle makes it easy to remove the three-legged pan from the fire and the practical hook at the end allows the pan to be hung up when not in use.
Whether at a medieval market, in a camp kitchen or for re-enactment- this tripod pan fits perfectly into a wide variety of eras. It goes particularly well with depictions of the High and Late Middle Ages, the Renaissance and early modern times and adds a historical ambience to any camp kitchen or evening campfire.
