Weapons & Armour

Here you will find swords and other weapons, for battle or as decoration, as well as chain mail, helmets, shields, armour parts and other accessories such as sword sheaths.

Most of the swords in our range are high-quality hand-forged, battle-standard weapons. They are manufactured for us by a blacksmith. Therefore, all of the pieces are individual, no sword is exactly the same as the other.

Before using combat weapons, please read the instructions below!

We also offer simpler swords - be it for decoration or for strolling on the market.

Weapons may not be sold to minors. We therefore ask you to send a copy of your identity card or passport with the order - either by post, by fax or as an attachment to an e-mail to info@ritterladen.de.

It is your responsibility as a buyer to inform yourself regarding possible import restrictions applicable for your country (e.g. application for an import authorisation).  

Notes on the use of show battle weapons

• With the label "suitable for show battles", our swords are suitable for fencing and show battles. Extremely brutal edge-to-edge beating (or other hard objects) is not a proper use of these swords and may result in the breakage of the blade. Our warranty in the event of breakage of the blade refers exclusively to material error (e.g. hairline cracks in the blade, processing error), but not to a brutal or improper use of these swords.
• For medieval sword fights, you should note that fighters in the Middle Ages almost always defended a enemy sword blow with their shield. This protected the sword.
• Whenever possible, parry blows with the wide side of the sword.
• If your sword blade shows notches, then these should be smoothened down, otherwise material could spring off which could cause injury. Any notches which become present are not a case for warranty, but are completely normal. The loosening of the parry bar is also unavoidable when parrying blows from another sword. Here, re-riveting or re-tightening the screw fixture can help.
• Swords have always broken, starting with the Bronze Age to the swords of the Middle Ages. It is even mentioned in the famous Song of Roland that Count Graf's sword broke.
• Before going into battle, you should take out liability insurance, because going into battle is not without risk for your health and for your partner.
• Please also ensure you wear sensible protective clothing. Participants in show battle cannot go into battle without gloves, gambeson, chain mail and - above all - head protection. Fighting without protective clothing is dangerous.
• Test your sword before each use with different blows on wood, comparable to the bending test of a foilsman.
• Make sure that your partner uses a sword in as similar condition as possible, otherwise, the softer blade will incur unnecessary notches.
• No serious manufacturer would offer a 100% blade break guarantee. Any blade can break under unfavourable conditions or in the event of improper use.
